PIPE® Dreams Do Come True!
LPGA
Player Wins First Event of the Season with Nickent’s
PIPE® Putter
Joo Mi Kim’s dream of being a champion on the
LPGA Tour was realized Saturday, besting a fellow Korean
player on the second playoff hole of the SBS Open at
Turtle Bay in Hawaii.
In the first LPGA event of the season and Kim’s
first event using the PIPE® Putter, she led the field
in putting with a 26.33 putts per round average. Kim
sank a 14-foot putt on the first playoff hole for birdie
to push the playoff hole. She then stuck a wedge to
two feet and used her brand new PP-001 double-bend PIPE®
Putter to seal the victory.
“I just got this new putter from Nickent at the
PGA Show,” said Kim. “It is very easy to
use and to line up because it is three-dimensional putter.
It was a big reason for my first LPGA win.”
Joo Mi needed only 79 putts over 54 holes, with 31 putts
in the first round, 23 in the second and 25 in the final
round. Her amazing 23-putt performance in the second
round helped her shoot a course record 65.
Kim, who found victory in only her 23rd career LPGA
event, was doused with champagne on the green with the
PIPE® Putter at her feet, but when asked how she would
celebrate she responded, “Beer. Hite beer!”
“I'm very happy and excited,” said Kim,
who earned $150,000 with her win. “It seems like
I am dreaming.”
It seems with the PIPE® Putter, all sorts of dreams can
come true.
